Floodplain mapping

Drawing the line where the river remembers.

Where the river remembers

A floodplain isn't land the river floods — it's land the river owns and lends out. We map it with lidar so towns, insurers, and beavers all know where the water wants to go.

How we draw it

lidar bare-earth elevation, 1 m
models 10 / 50 / 100-year extents
channels where the river used to run
publish open maps, updated yearly

Why it matters

Flood insurance, zoning, and restoration all need the same line. We draw it once, honestly, in public.
